It is a new technology that helps combat global warming by sequestering carbon dioxide CO₂ inside concrete. Its official name is "Carbon Pool Concrete."
Concrete naturally binds with and captures
CO₂ chemically within its materials. CP Concrete utilizes special materials and manufacturing processes to maximize this absorption efficiently and in large volumes. Furthermore, when the concrete reaches the end of its life, it can absorb CO₂ once again during recycling.
CP Concrete shows no significant difference in strength or durability compared to standard concrete. It is designed to be used with confidence in architecture and civil engineering projects.
Rather than ultra-high-strength structures like skyscrapers, it is best suited for standard-strength applications such as sidewalks, building exteriors, and wall materials.
It is designed so that CO₂ penetrates throughout the entire interior during the manufacturing stage. Additionally, it continues to gradually absorb CO₂ through its surface after completion.
Once absorbed into the concrete, CO₂is not released back into the atmosphere. Furthermore, crushing used CP Concrete to use as raw material for new concrete contributes to both CO₂ reduction and resource recycling.
The CP Concrete Consortium is composed of 15 organizations including companies, associations, research institutions, and universities, with over 100 individuals participating in this national project aimed at realizing a decarbonized society.
